Our History
Moreton Community Centre has a long and meaningful connection to the local area. While the building itself is relatively new, the ground it stands on has a deep-rooted community history.

The original lane was named after Mary Anne, a long-time local resident. Her cottage was removed in 1932 when Pasture Road was widened to support growing traffic in the area.

A school was later built on the site but was tragically destroyed by a fire during the 1960s, marking a major loss for the local community.

After being rebuilt, the second school also fell to fire in the 1980s — leaving the space vacant once again and raising questions about the site’s future use.
